Parkinson’s Disease: Care and Support at Home

  • By Admin on October 10, 2018
  • Parkinson’s is a neurodegenerative disease that develops when dopamine producing nerve cells in the brain become damaged and die off. Decreasing levels of dopamine affect the body’s ability to move properly, and early signs of this disease are often related to inhibited movement. Tremors, stiffness, poor balance, speech difficulties and even confusion can be warning signals. Being a progressive disease, these and other associated symptoms may be mild at first; however, their intensity increases over time. While medications are available to help suppress some of these symptoms, there is currently no known cure.

While most cases of Parkinson’s are diagnosed in those sixty years of age and older, early onset can occur in individuals in early adulthood. No matter one’s age or stage, Affordable Care at Home is here to offer our support. We are committed to providing quality in-home care to our clients and have experience caring for those with a variety of needs, including those affected by Parkinson’s disease.
